Bill Kurz is a 62+ year-young Eagle Scout. He is a graduate of the Naval Academy and was a Navy fighter pilot, flying the F-4 Phantom off the decks of the Nimitz and Forrestal. He retired from the Navy and most recently the airline industry. He has always owned several bikes and motorcycles, and over the years has competed in several triathlons and other endurance bike/motorcycle events. This winter, Bill contacted Scoutmaster, Bruce White, after seeing a piece in the Adventure Cycling Association’s touring magazine. After being off his bike for almost a year Bill started riding again in January of 2014. He had a lot of conditioning to complete.
A word from Bill:
I can’t wait to start this adventure. I'm am totally amazed by the planning an execution skills of Troop 165 on the several prep rides in May 2014. The leadership of the troop is very welcoming and has planned the ESCAA trip in great detail. The troop has a fine bunch of Eagles. The young men will be a joy to ride with and experience this adventure of a lifetime with. Great memories will be made and lots will be learned on this trip, by all.
